Research for Researchers

Shaping the Future Through Research Collaborations

Together, the three alliance universities rank among the most research-intensive universities of applied sciences in Germany. More than 600 researchers work alongside around 30,000 students on countless projects with a wide range of focus areas—forming an alliance with boundless creative and innovative potential.

Research Thrives Through Collaboration

The research focus area also extends into the alliance universities themselves, supporting them in identifying and showcasing shared, emerging research profile areas. In this way, exchange formats are created for research funding and knowledge transfer units, as well as for researchers to foster interdisciplinary networking.

Test Your Knowledge

With Quiztime, key questions on the topic are addressed Networking with Companies, Pitching Research Ideas und Financing Research Projects are addressed. In addition, we provide checklists for each topic to help you prepare optimally for your individual case.

Research in Focus

Our explainer videos provide concise, practice-oriented insights into how to protect intellectual property, commercialize research results, and make use of the services your university offers. The content supports you in planning and implementing research projects professionally.
For each topic, we also provide practical checklists so you can directly apply what you’ve learned to your own case.

Networking in Research

Matchmaking Events

For Researchers

At our regularly held matchmaking events, researchers from the alliance universities have the opportunity to engage in academic exchange and networking with international colleagues around specific programs or focus topics. Potential joint research projects are planned in follow-up individual meetings after the events.

Webinars

For Those Interested in Cooperation

Together with the DeepTech innovation network ruhrvalley, the Research focus area of the Ruhr University Alliance regularly hosts webinars on the topic of funding opportunities. The focus is on knowledge transfer and cooperation. The webinars are aimed both at researchers from the alliance universities and at employees of companies within the ruhrvalley network, with the goal of encouraging joint research initiatives.

Digital Methods in Architecture

The EINZ project explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into architecture in combination with environmentally compatible materials. The focus is on design methods for sustainable, resource-efficient architecture in which the reuse of regional building materials plays a significant role.

Sustainable IGA 2027

The International Garden Exhibition (IGA) will take place in North Rhine-Westphalia for the first time in 2027—and for the first time in the Ruhr metropolitan region. And it has set itself ambitious goals: the exhibition addresses global future challenges, puts sustainable companies, start-ups, and project initiators in the spotlight, and showcases the region’s green highlights. It offers unique events and programs, high-quality cultural experiences, and interactive activities—all while exploring one central question: Wie wollen wir morgen leben?
